Holyoke Soldier’s home
This new 9-storey, 325,000-square-foot, 4,000-ton steel building will house 234 veterans for long-term care. Care will include nursing support, a physiotherapy area, a dentist’s office, a hairdresser, a dining room and recreational areas. The center will provide comprehensive services for U.S. veterans for the modest sum of $0.
Holyoke Soldier’s home brought with it its own set of challenges, since the entire perimeter of the building is composed of a system of galvanized lintels, but wait, the angle iron had to be bent to very tight tolerances in order to reproduce the building’s unique geometry.
